KOREY MARTIN b. 1989; COOKEVILLE, TENNESSEE

Korey Martin is an artist and illustrator living in southwest Michigan. 

His drawings maintain a light grip on a reality which often feels beyond his reach. 

With materials such as rulers, newsprint and color pencils (at once forgiving and limiting) he depicts commonplace things and scenes from his life using what his wife calls a "summarized perspective".

Through drawing and observation, Korey contemplates the notion that to draw a thing is to draw the universe, all beginning as a single, shared moment that has since continued to transform. 

For this reason, his drawings are nothing new, but rather more of what already is.
